Bird guiding in the Sahara Deserts of Morocco

As well as the organised tours shown in our “Birding Tours” section, Gayuin Birding Tours offer FULL DAY TRIP that cover all the major sites around the desert region. The regions of Rissani and Merzouga have a great deal to offer the travelling birdwatcher enthusiast with lots of varied habitats with many quality species.

 Bird Species that can be find in these regions include the Pharaoh Eagle Owl, Desert Lark, Greater Hoopoe-Lark, African desert warbler, Saharian olivaceous Warbler, Cream-coloured Courser, Desert Wheatear, Trumpeter Finch, Desert Sparrow, Fulvous Babbler, Bar-tailed Lark, Blue-cheeked Bee-eater, House Bunting, Rock Pigeon, Long-billed Crested Lark, White-crowned Wheatear, Brown-necked Raven, Crowned Sandgrouse, Spotted Sandgrouse, Lanner Falcon, Barbary Falcon, Little owl, Egyptian Nightjar at daylight (March – September),…etc!

Hamid Mezane (brother of Brahim): 32 Years, was born in the sahara desert of Morocco, having a Berber father and mother. He is an enthusiastic birder and expert guide in the deserts. Hamid is been working for us since 2014 and he is been a hugely successful leader in many of our Atlas mountains & Sahara birding tours and also desert day trips in Erg Chebbi dunes, Merzouga and Rissani areas, Hamid speaks French, Arabic, Berber and some english and spanish.
